Yes, it's quite remarkable that a social group (Album Covers) has spawned some of the finest compilations known to man and womankind. (In my humble opinion of course.) This volume was inspired as all are, by the amazing covers posted up in the group. For those of you who are not yet members and have been told or stumbled across the podomatic venture, please feel free to join us on Facebook.(Album Covers) Jazz is the feeling, jazz is the moment. the effervescent topic, the inconceivable, the wonderful, the bizarre, the ridiculous, the sensual, the yesternow. The attempt on this compilation was to condense several areas of the art form to give an oversight if you will, to what this free flowing music is all about. Of course what seemed possible is quite conclusively impossible. Why? Because jazz is impossible. Forever forming, mutating to different heights, different colours, sunshine in your blue, solace in your pain, mighty to your weakness, beautiful in the ugly, opposites in the lovely. Let's not talk all that jazz, baby this IS jazz not jazz. Enjoy. The Sleeves Vol 5 - Jazz Not Jazz [Special Edition] compilation launched on today 1st Sept 2011 is dedicated to the memory of Mr Miles Davis in the month of his passing. Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991) was an American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Miles Davis was, with his musical groups, at the forefront of several major developments in jazz music, including bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, and jazz fusion.
